Hokage's Funeral

Lynn stood in silence as the funeral ended. This Hokage was the one that allowed her to stay in the village. If it wasn't for her, she would have had to keep moving. 'I am not sure where I would have stopped...' Lynn thought sadly to herself, 'She gave me a home. And she let me get the training I needed to defend myself.' Lynn shook her head slowly. Her normally hot fury had cooled... no frozen, become icy and hard. 'I will make him pay for this.' Lynn thought, 'He will not get away with this unchallenged, no mater what anyone else thinks.' She looked around. 'I wonder if Mary is here...'

Mary didn't go to the funeral as it wasn't her kage that had been killed not to mention she had other things to do. Seeing Lynn Mary decided to commence her plan to hopefully both scare and lighten the mood. After having talked to a few people Mary learned that the person whom killed the kage was one of Lynn's old team mates. Also she learned from other what he had looked like not to mention common things he did or said. Silently appearing behind Lynn Mary whispered into her ear, "My my, what a lovely day." Mary was doing her best to imitate what she had heard Lynn's arch nemesis looked like. With her eyes closed and a grin on her face almost everything was correct except Mary was still Mary with her skin color, chest, and height. Mary had found a white robe that looked similar to the enemy only Mary had actually spent the time to make it look exactly the same. Her hope was to make Lynn laugh but in case she took it wrong Mary was ready to jump back at any second.

Lynn stiffened upon hearing that phrasing, those words, that came from behind her. But something was different and that restrained her from striking out. The tone. She had heard his tone often enough that she knew it by heart. 'How sad.' she thought quietly, 'That I know this tone just as well and I've only heard it a few times.' She turned, and got another jolt, as she saw the white robe, but the height, skin color, and chest through off the impression of Kisho.

"Hello Mary..." she murmured, withdrawn.

Mary opened up her eyes to look at Lynn for a minute then she thought about what to say. Looking at Lynn a little worried Mary decided to speak in a gentle innocent voice, "Whats wrong Lynn? Why are you so down?" The expression on Mary's face was almost that of a sad one although on the inside she was actually more curious if she had scared Lynn. Although as the silence remained Mary stopped thinking of if she scared Lynn and more if Lynn was mad at her now. Doing her best Mary kept a slight smile while tilting her head in such a way that was almost like a very cute helpless kitten. 'At least the clouds had parted a little so there are more sun spots!' Mary thought this to herself to try to resist the urge to hug Lynn and feel bad about the joke seemingly gone wrong.

Lynn just smiled tiredly at the adorable girl. She could tell that Mary was just trying to cheer her up, even if she failed miserably. The clothing, the wording... reminding her of him just reminded her of her own failures. It wasn't scary just... sad. Mary looked like she was having trouble keeping a smile on her face. 'From looking at me?' Lynn thought, then looked up. The clouds had dispersed quite a bit. 'That will make her happy...'

"Look Mary, sunlight. A miracle." Lynn teased, poking her, trying to joke.

Mary laughed a little even though the joke wasn't funny at all just the truth. Taking the robe off yet not wanting to throw it out thanks to how much work she had put in. She smiled more naturally at Lynn as Mary asked, "So what are we gonna do?" Thinking back she figured that Lynn would want to train which sounded no fun to Mary but from what she had heard it was most likely Lynn wanted to kill this guy. Without saying anything Mary suddenly took a few steps to the left to go into a sun spot that wasn't moving. Sighing with releif at the warmth she closed her eyes falling asleep already even with a great nights sleep.

Lynn smiled without answering for a moment as Mary scooted into the sun, raising her head into it. She could tell that the girl was falling asleep in the warmth. 'She is very beautiful.' Lynn noted, seeing all the glances, even after a funeral. 'Expecially when she's in the sunlight. She was born to be in the sun.' Lynn shook her head.

"I am leaving tomorrow." She said, in responce to Mary's question a few seconds ago, "So we can do whatever you want today."

Mary looked at Lynn with a happy expression, "We are gonna go get the supplies we need for the journey!" It didn't matter if Lynn planned on having Mary come with her as Mary was now going with her. Simply Lynn couldn't stop Mary so she said in advance, "Besides we are now homeless cause we don't wanna go back to the Sand Village to be beaten for taking the seal off!" Smiling happily it was apparent that Mary was happy just to be around Lynn. As the sun faded away Mary bit her lip only to shift further over the keep in the sun.

Lynn looked surprised. Internally, however, she was relived. 'She won't be going back to that... place.' Lynn thought, relieved. Another quieter part of her mind whispered, 'And she'll be with me...' Lynn stomped on that part of her mind however, quieting it. Lynn smiled, a bit of her former happiness returning.

"You’re wrong." She said simply, "You are not homeless. My home is always open."

[Rose]

Mary smiled more then the sun disappeared again. She quickly started running from sun spot to sun spot as more and more of them started to disappear. Sighing she shivered being rather cold now so looked at Lynn with a plan as she said, "We will stay with you as long as you," Pausing she hugged Lynn from behind to burrow her face into Lynn's back while also using her own chest, "Keep us warm!" The last part was more muffled as her face was buried.

Lynn smiled as the girl ran around from sunspot to sunspot, trying desperately to stay in the warm sunlight and failing as it disapeared. Then Lynn laughed, as Mary came and buried her face in the back of her shirt. Lynn glanced up at the clouds, curious. 'Maybe I can help...' She thought to herself, still staring upwards. She threw her power out and up. It reached, but it had very little force behind it. She couldn't move more than a drop of water. 'But the whole cloud is made up of little drops of water...' She moved one at a time, until there was a beam of sunlight shining down on them.

"I think I can do that." She said, smiling at her friend. Then the chakra drain hit her and her legs trembled. "Oh."

Mary giggled then looked up at the sun for about a minute with her eyes closed as her body absorbed the heat much like a cat would. Glancing at Lynn she noted that Lynn was looking very weak suddenly. Asking her why in a curious voice, "Lynn whats wrong?" She hadn't even thought about the chakra cause Mary was so good at controlling her chakra naturally that even large jutsu could be maintained. Thinking more she wondered if Lynn was sick cause the cold so hugged Lynn tighter trying to warm her up more.

Lynn shook her head, smiling as she looked down, glad that Mary was concerned about her. After a couple seconds though, she was back to normal. It was mostly surprise that made her shake like that.

"The clouds are just very high up." Lynn explained then. "And I am far away from my power source. If I stood on a river, that wouldn't have been so challenging." She yawned, stretching out to her fullest, though not leaving Mary's arms. "So what do you need to get?"

Listening closely to Lynn Mary decided to then let go of her to start walking off towards the middle of the town. "We have to get some food, a bigger blanket, and a medical kit in case we get hurt!" Giggling she pulled her moms blanket out to wrap it around herself for warmth. Coming to think of it she really wasn't all that cold it was the comfort of the blanket that was needed at the moment more then anything else.

"I have food, a bigger blanket, and a medical kit." Lynn said, following Mary anyways. 'Not that I'll need it... a river would do me more good. But I suppose in case we aren't by water...' Lynn thought, then shuddered. Not by water. She really really hated that idea, but knew it was likely to happen at some time or another.

"Aww man..." Lynn said aloud as she thought of something, "Toby is going to be furious at me for leaving without him."

[Rose]

"Well then we should go and get food!" Mary said this smiling thinking that she was hungry so therefore Lynn was also probably hungry. If she wasn't then Mary would have to eat on her own knowing her luck though that meant she would get the worst restaurant in all of Konoha. Smiling a little more she glanced down at the ground to pick up a flower that someone had dropped. Mary blew some of the dirt off then put it in her hair only for a slight breeze to blow it out. Sighing she didn't bother then Mary wrapped the blanket tighter as the breeze was very chilling.

"Ok, sounds alright to me." Lynn said, walking close to Mary and wrapping an arm around her when she saw how cold the girl looked. "You are made for warmer weather, arn'' you?" She smiled as they walked all the same. She liked standing close to people, or casual contact. She always felt awkward when someone stays far away from her. It feels like she has something wrong with her. 'I suppose that's probably a left over fear from back home...' She thought to her self.

"How is this place?" She asked, gesturing.

[Rose]

Mary shook her head while saying, "No, we hate the cold!" As they walked Mary closed her eyes to rest them while trying not to think about anything. She almost tripped twice but caught herself last minute so gave up on closing her eyes while walking. Seeing where they would eat she shrugged honestly not caring unless it was food and food she would eat. "We will eat where you wanna eat Lynn!"

Lynn lead her into the small shop. It was much warmer inside, the hangings in the door helping insulate it from the heat. Even Lynn perfered the warmth to the chilly outside. 'Fitting day for a funeral though...' She thought before they sat down. She glanced at a menu, but didn't pick it up. She already knew what she was getting.

"What are you going to get, Mary?" She asked.

"Anything sushi!" Mary said this with much enthusiasm as she was suddenly getting much warmer so her battery's were charging up. Looking at the menu she quickly put it down to think about other things like why Lynn wanted to go after her enemy. Stopping herself she just asked, "Why do you want to chase him? Do we know where he is? Whats his name?" The onslaught of questions stopped as Mary realized what she was doing.

Lynn ordered as Mary had said, smiling at her friends seeming love of sushi. She also found it funny how cold seemed to slow Mary down, like a cold blooded creature. 'In the warmth, she gets all active and moving,' she thought, 'Then as she gets colder, she slows down more and more.' She shook her head slowly as she heard Mary's questions. 'Its to be expected...' Lynn thought, 'She misunderstood.'

"I am not chasing him." Lynn said, correcting her, "He is Kisho, one of the people that killed the Hokage. However, I am not going after him. I am going home for a while."

[Rose]

Mary tilted her head as she thought for awhile then finally the words came out of her mouth, "But home is only a 15 minute walk silly!" Laughing she didn't understand why it was such a big deal that Lynn wanted to go home when her house was so close. Mary continued to laugh then stopped the second the sushi came only to quickly eat some of it. "So we will be no help at all if this Kisho was able to defeat your Kage! We are weak." Seeming now sad as it hit Mary that she was not all that strong in jutsu but just in being silent, fast, and acrobatic.

Lynn smiled at her misunderstanding, shaking her head. Then when Mary called herself weak, Lynn's eyebrows shot up in surprise.

"You, weak?" Lynn said, incredulous, "Not likely. You just have a different set of skills. You could probably kill someone before they know you are there. But... Thats why I am not going after him yet. I am not strong enough to fight him at all, if he could kill the Hokage." Then she decided to correct Mary's thinking about 'home'. "And by home... I mean my home nation. Where I was born."

[Rose]

Mary nodded now understanding but as her brain started to work better as she ate more she asked Lynn a very important question, "Our clan is very well known along with being very wealthy, we have many enemies that are other clans. Being the soon to be Empress we fear that your home nation would kill us. So we ask if we are going to be safe now before we leave with you." Getting rather serious she ate another piece of sushi that had much more spice on it so she blushed from the warmth in her mouth only to quickly drink some water. Smiling she looked at Lynn with a completely different look then she had before she ate the spice.

"Well, then at this place you will be safer than here." Lynn said with a half smile, "Because they don't even know of the existence of Konoha, or the other large villages. We are a very indrawn people." She didn't even notice that she said 'we'. "The only thing that might be noticed is your speaking style. Its about as different from the people here as the people there." Again, she half smiled. "Plus... if I was there, my powers will be unbelievably stronger." She didn't explain why however, as the waiter brought their food and placed it at the end of the table. Lynn slid Mary's in front of her with a smile.
